Meeting Tomorrow For 150-170 Sierra Drive in Walnut Creek

The Walnut Creek Planning Commission is scheduled to review plans tomorrow for a six-story affordable housing complex at 150-170 Sierra Drive in Walnut Creek, Contra Costa County. The proposal would require demolition of an existing 29-unit residential complex to facilitate the construction of 87 new apartments. Satellite Affordable Housing Associates is the project sponsor.

The roughly 66-foot-tall structure will include 87,800 square feet, including 68,300 square feet for housing and 3,090 square feet for on-site services. The project will include 87 apartments, including five studios, 37 one-bedrooms, 22 two-bedrooms, and 23 three-bedrooms. Surface parking will be included for 58 cars.

David Baker Architects is responsible for the design. The exterior will be clad with a variety of fiber cement textures and perforated metal screens. KPFF is the Civil Engineer, and Form/Work is the landscape architect.

The estimated cost and timeline for construction have yet to be shared. The property is located along Sierra Drive between Walker Avenue and Walnut Boulevard. Future residents will be an eight-minute walk from a nearby grocery store, and ten minutes away from Broadway Plaza, an open-air shopping mall in the heart of Walnut Creek.
