City Council Supports Affordable Housing Development at El Cerrito BART Station

The El Cerrito City Council has started to support the next phase of affordable housing as part of the El Cerrito BART Station redevelopment in Contra Costa County. With construction expected to begin later this year on the first phase, the council provided a $350,000 loan while city staff apply for over $40 million in state funding for the next portion of below-market-rate units. Holliday Development, Satellite Affordable Housing Associates, and Related California are jointly responsible for the 743-unit master plan on behalf of the property owner, BART.

Thornton Avenue Apartments Files CEQA Notice of Exemption

Satellite Affordable Housing Associates is moving forward with a new CEQA notice of exemption for the demolition of three vacant buildings and the construction of a 59-unit apartment building. The project, located at 6375 Thornton Avenue in Newark, will be 100% affordable housing, with a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom units.

Limited Partnership Formed For Affordable Teacher Housing at 1701 San Pablo Avenue, Berkeley

Two developers have submitted permits to formalize a limited partnership for the affordable housing proposal at 1701 San Pablo Avenue in Northwest Berkeley, Alameda County. The existing surface parking lot is owned by the Berkeley Unified School District. Once complete, the 110 affordable apartments will prioritize School District employees and familiars. Abode Communities and Satellite Affordable Housing Associates will be joint developers.
