Parcel A Breaks Ground at El Cerrito BART Transit Oriented Development

Last week, ground broke at the El Cerrito BART Station, beginning the first phase of construction for a sweeping 743-unit development to occupy the existing surface parking lot. Initial concepts for the project were reported on by SF YIMBY in 2020, with final approvals by the El Cerrito City Council coming through in May 2025. In that time, Holliday Development, Satellite Affordable Housing Associates, and Related California have emerged as project developers, sponsoring a combination of affordable and market-rate units on the site.

City Council Supports Affordable Housing Development at El Cerrito BART Station

The El Cerrito City Council has started to support the next phase of affordable housing as part of the El Cerrito BART Station redevelopment in Contra Costa County. With construction expected to begin later this year on the first phase, the council provided a $350,000 loan while city staff apply for over $40 million in state funding for the next portion of below-market-rate units. Holliday Development, Satellite Affordable Housing Associates, and Related California are jointly responsible for the 743-unit master plan on behalf of the property owner, BART.

Affordable Housing Under Construction at 801 Pine Street, West Oakland

Phase one of construction has topped out for Phoenix in West Oakland, Alameda County. Crews are currently working on a four-story supportive housing project with a hundred affordable apartments overlooking Interstate 880. Allied Housing and East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation are jointly developing the project.

El Cerrito Plaza TOD Received $39 Million in State Funding

The City of El Cerrito and project developer Related California have been awarded $39.1 million in state funding for the El Cerrito Plaza Transit-Oriented Development in Contra Costa County. The financing will allow the team to start construction on the first affordable housing building in phase one, which is expected to start next year.

BART Reviews Plans for El Cerrito Plaza BART Station

The San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit Board of Directors recently reviewed the latest plans for the El Cerrito Plaza BART Station. The public presentation includes a tentative phasing schedule, which says construction on the several-hundred-unit masterplan could start as early as next year. The transit agency is working with Related California and Holliday Development.

The project could create as many as 800 homes, a park, and a potential new library on top of surface parking around the El Cerrito BART Station. Renewed Permits Filed for 2121 Wood Street, West Oakland

Holliday Development has filed a new building permit for the five-story residential development addressed 2121 Wood Street in West Oakland. The application comes after the developer filed for an extension in late-2020, and withdrew permits earlier this year. If built, the project will add 235 new apartments to the city.

Illustrations Revealed Ahead of Meeting for BART’s El Cerrito Plaza Proposal

New illustrations have been revealed for BART’s proposed redevelopment of El Cerrito Plaza in El Cerrito, Contra Costa County. The images were released ahead of the El Cerrito city council meeting tonight at 7 PM. The transit-oriented project would create 750-800 new apartments ranging from market rate to low-income housing. Holliday Development, Related California, and SAHA are responsible for the development.
