Permits have been filed for interim use of 500 Kirkham Street as a parking lot in West Oakland. Previously, the city approved plans for a 1,032-unit mixed-use development by Panoramic Interests. The property was returned to lenders in 2023 after the developer defaulted on a loan, and the current owner, Columbia Pacific Advisors, is looking for a buyer for the development opportunity.
Building permits have been issued for the six-story affordable housing project at 3431 San Pablo Avenue in West Oakland, Alameda County. The development is now poised to add several dozen apartments next to the historic California Hotel overlooking Interstate 580. East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation is the project sponsor.
The Phoenix housing development is now opening its doors at 811 Pine Street in Oakland. The property was originally reported on by SF YIMBY under the site’s previous address of 801 Pine Street. However, the site has now been broken down into five distinct buildings, with the 101-unit building at 811 Pine Street now completed.
As per a recently released statement by BART, the long-awaited West Oakland BART development project is now taking initial steps towards construction. A portion of the West Oakland BART parking lot is closed this week for preliminary site soil testing and preparations. Site remediation, followed by building construction, is to begin later this year.
Permits have been approved for an eight-story affordable senior housing project at 793 West Grand Avenue in the Ralph Bunche neighborhood of West Oakland, Alameda County. The entitlement is expected to replace an existing church and deliver 71 apartments on the corner lot. Community Housing Development Corporation is responsible for the application on behalf of the property owner, Joshua Christian Church.
