As per a recently released statement by BART, the long-awaited West Oakland BART development project is now taking initial steps towards construction. A portion of the West Oakland BART parking lot is closed this week for preliminary site soil testing and preparations. Site remediation, followed by building construction, is to begin later this year.
Permits have been approved for an eight-story affordable senior housing project at 793 West Grand Avenue in the Ralph Bunche neighborhood of West Oakland, Alameda County. The entitlement is expected to replace an existing church and deliver 71 apartments on the corner lot. Community Housing Development Corporation is responsible for the application on behalf of the property owner, Joshua Christian Church.
New affordable housing has officially opened at 2121 Wood Street in West Oakland, Alameda County. The project team and local politicians gathered for a ceremonial ribbon-cutting event at Prescott Station, a six-story apartment complex with over two hundred units and commercial retail space overlooking the Oakland Ballers ballpark. Turner Impact Capital was the project developer.
The proposed multifamily and commercial development at 990 34th Street took a major step forward, with plans approved by the City of Oakland. The existing West Oakland property is to be demolished and prepared for the construction of a six-story 78-unit building designed by Gunkel Architecture.

Illustrations show an updated design for a similarly-sized development, adding four units to a currently vacant parcel.
