Pre-application permits have been filed for an affordable housing campus at 1707 Wood Street in West Oakland, Alameda County. The development looks to add 170 units on the vacant lot close to the Oakland Ballers stadium and Interstate 580. MidPen Housing is the project applicant, filing in partnership with Habitat for Humanity.

Initial drawings show the campus will feature a four-story podium complex across from four three-story flats. The apartment complex will include 88 rental units, while the flats include 82 units available for ownership. Dwelling unit sizes will vary with 43 one-bedrooms, 85 two-bedrooms, and 42 three-bedrooms. Parking will be included for 160 cars and 170 bicycles. PYATOK and Phillips Win Architecture are jointly responsible for the design.
The triangular parcel spans 3.13 acres, bound by Wood Street, Frontage Road, and the now-derelict 16th Street Station. The site is across from Raimondi Park, which includes a football field and the baseball stadium for the Oakland Ballers. The industrial neighborhood has seen several residential projects completed around the Park, including Prescott Station Apartments and Ellis at Central Station.

This part of West Oakland is developing into a cool little spot. Glad to see the for-sale affordable housing. This is so needed throughout the Bay, but especially in Oakland!
