The project team and city officials gathered last week to celebrate the grand opening of Kapuso at the Upper Yard, a nine-story affordable housing project at 2340 San Jose Avenue in San Francisco’s Outer Mission neighborhood. The project has created 131 low- to moderate-income family homes on public land owned by BART and developed in partnership with Related and the Mission Housing Development Corporation. State Senator Scott Wiener, author of Senate Bill 35, which provided Kapuso a clear path for approval, attended the event.
Oakland has approved plans for a new five-story affordable infill at 430 Broadway in the city’s Jack London neighborhood. The proposal is the first of three phases by Related Companies and the East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation to redevelop the former county building and parking lot. This first structure will create 71 apartments above retail.
Santa Clara’s newest towers are also its tallest. Construction has topped out for 2300 Calle De Luna, an apartment complex with two towers rising from the eight-story podium and surrounded by landscaping in the Tasman East Specific Plan. Completion of the seven hundred units, shops, and landscaped public parkland is expected as early as next year. Related Companies is the project developer.
New renderings have been published with two competing visions for their next development in Tasman East, Santa Clara. Related California has published mid-rise and high-rise schemes for Parcel 4A and 4B, both with similar levels of housing, either 900 or 950 homes. The plans will be reviewed in a public meeting today by the Santa Clara Development Review Hearing.
