The eleventh tallest skyscraper in the Bay Area planned or built is Related Companies The Avery, a 618-foot tall residential tower at 450 Folsom Street in SoMa, San Francisco. The project is located on Block 8 of the Transbay development district and inside the highly redeveloped East Cut neighborhood. Rem Koolhaas’ Office of Metropolitan Architecture is responsible for the tapered design.

General Plan Referral Filed for 530 Sansome Street, Financial District, San Francisco

The General Plan Referral has been filed for The Related Companies mixed-use tower at 530 Sansome Street, a requirement ahead of a Board of Supervisors’ vote to approve. The proposal would replace Fire Station 13 in San Francisco’s Financial District. Two distinct project variants are being considered for the rest of the tower, to build either a 200-guestroom Equinox hotel with a gym and offices or 256 apartments. The development is a public-private partnership with Related, the San Francisco Bureau of Real Estate, and the San Francisco Fire Department.

Groundbreaking and Rents Revealed for 95th & International, Elmhurst, Oakland

Construction crews have broken ground on the affordable mixed-use development at 9409 International Boulevard in Elmhurst, Oakland. To be called 95th & International, the development will produce 55 new units and a ground-floor health clinic as part of the Better Neighborhoods Same Neighbors city program. The architecture firm Studio T Square is responsible for the design, with JHF Construction as the contractor.

Demolition Permits Filed for 12 Structures for Sunnydale HOPE SF, San Francisco

Demolition permits have been filed for twelve buildings along Sunnydale Avenue as part of Blocks One through Four in the Sunnydale HOPE SF redevelopment plan. The Sunnydale community was originally built during World War Two but has since become one of San Francisco’s most acutely neglected public housing neighborhoods. Mercy Housing and Related California are jointly responsible for the redevelopment that will offer replacement housing on top of nearly 1,000 new apartments.
