EAH Housing celebrated the grand opening of two affordable housing projects in Hayward, Alameda County. The developer’s dual ribbon-cutting events marked the opening of 133 units, split between Mission Paradise in South Hayward and Pimentel Place in Downtown Hayward.

Laura Hall, President and CEO of EAH Housing, said for the ribbon cutting, that “in a city like Hayward, where the need for housing far exceeds supply, developments like these are essential to ensuring that teachers, healthcare workers, families, and older adults can continue to live, work, and thrive here. We’re grateful to the City of Hayward and our many partners for helping make these communities a reality.”

The 133 units will be made affordable to households earning between 20% to 80% of the area’s median income. Property management and social programming will be provided on site, with LifeSTEPS offering case management services for residents.

Pimentel Place is a five-story building located at 22648 2nd Street in Downtown Hayward. The project includes 57 residential units, ranging from one-bedroom to three-bedroom apartments, for individual and family households. Fifteen units are set aside for people “experiencing chronic homelessness,” according to EAH Housing. Amenities will include on-site laundry, bicycle parking, an outdoor gathering space, and a children’s play area. Dahlin Group is the project architect, and Nibbi was the general contractor.

Mission Paradise, located at 28000-90 Mission Boulevard, has produced 76 units across two structures for older adults aged 62 and older, including 25 project-based rental assistance units and 15 units designated for unhoused individuals with several mental illnesses pursuant to No Place Like Home.

Alameda County Supervisor Elisa Márquez said for the grand opening, “Mission Paradise and Pimentel Place show what’s possible when public and nonprofit partners like EAH Housing work together. Collectively, we are creating a stronger, more inclusive community for our older adults, our families, and our residents who have struggled to find a place to call home.”
