Following a recent application, the city of Santa Clara will soon review plans for an eight-story residential building at 2354 Calle Del Mundo in Santa Clara’s Tasman East Specific Plan. If approved, the development will be one of six admitted in the 45-acre redevelopment with offices, housing, and nearby light rail master-planned by the City of Santa Clara. Five more projects are awaiting approval. Ensemble is responsible for developing this building.

2354 will be an eight-story residential addition with 89 units, a decrease from previous plans with 110 units. The construction has a three-story concrete podium topped with five floors of type IIIA wood. Residential amenities will include a lounge and fitness center on the second level, a third-level open courtyard, and public space access in the Tasman East plan. 79 parking stalls will be included on site using automated parking stackers.

Those are 2200 Calle De Luna, 2353 Calle Del Mundo developed by Summerhill, 5123 Calle Del Sol, and 2302/2310 Calle Del Mundo to be created by Ensemble, and 2300 Calle De Luna, to be developed by Related. Ensemble is waiting for approval for 5185 Lafayette, as well as 2263 and 2354 Calle Del Mundo. Related is waiting on 2101 Tasman Drive, and St. Anton is waiting on 2233 Calle Del Mundo. Greystar is waiting for the approval of 2225 Calle de Luna and 2232 Calle del Mundo.

If all twelve projects are realized, Tasman East will bring 4,500 new homes to the city, of which a portion will be below market rate. There are plans for 10 acres of open space and 106,000 square feet of retail, of which a quarter will be a grocery store. A decision has not yet been reached about including a school on site.

An estimated completion date has not been announced.
