Permits have been filed to request reconsideration and modification of the condition of approval associated with previously-approved mixed-use development on 2011-2195 Wood Street in West Oakland. The approved residential and commercial development involved 235 residential units and 13,165 square feet of commercial spaces in two phases.
The first phase will complete the structure closest to the northern property line and adjacent to West Grand Avenue. The second phase will complete the structure closer to the southern portion of the site. The two structures will connect and share a common central courtyard.
The construction is planned in two phases on a vacant 2.54-acre block bounded by Wood Street, 20th Street, West Grand Avenue, and Frontage Road. The City of Oakland Planning and OAKDOT staff advocates only a partial modification; relocate the 218 parking spaces to adjacent off-site locations. Central Station Land, LLC requests an additional one-year time extension of the proposed development approved in December 2014.
The project is supposed to complement the neighborhood’s goal of creating an active, pedestrian-oriented urban community in West Oakland, and therefore, the staff suggests the Commission review the preliminary and final development plans and the one-year extension.
