Let’sPlaySF Campaign To Renovate Richmond Playground In San Francisco

The Let’sPlaySF Campaign is taking up renovation plans for Richmond Playground in Richmond District, San Francisco. Let’sPlaySF is a campaign created by the Recreation and Park Department and the San Francisco Parks Alliance to raise $13.3 Million in private funding. MIG is the landscape architect managing the landscape designs. The funds will be used to support the renovation project for 13 parks across San Francisco:

  • Richmond Playground
  • Washington Square
  • Buchanan Square Mall
  • Panhandle playground
  • Sgt. John Macaulay Park
  • Golden Gate Heights Park
  • West Portal Playground
  • Sigmund Stern Recreation Grove
  • John McLaren Park
  • Merced Heights Playground
  • Juri Commons
  • Alice Chalmers Playground
  • Herz Playground

The park’s theme is urban nature; natural elements blended with urban lifestyle and habitats in natural materials. The project aims to mix aspects of urban life with flora and fauna to align with setting up animal structures and plantings for birds and butterflies.

For Richmond playground, the project’s scope involves renovating the children’s play area, providing accessible entries at 18th and 19th Avenue, renovating restrooms, and providing more on-site amenities and landscape development. The on-site amenities include a gathering area, stroller parking, changing tables, and water bottle refilling stations.

The project site’s total span is 11,500 square feet, inclusive of the accessibility improvements at sidewalks. The estimated cost of construction is $1,650,000. The park will be open for public usage in 2022.

    Let’s continue to make our community a better place and make sure our community environment as parks is a safe place for our kids to play and also put a end to the reckless driving and by pulling the young immature people over who violates the project one lane and my historical Landmarks and Street lights as a team I have low tolerance for foolishness.
