Development permits have been approved for new housing project at 3483 and 3491 Golden Gate Way in Lafayette, Contra Costa County. The project proposes to demolish the existing apartment building spanning over 27,040 square feet and constructing a new four-story residential building with a subterranean parking garage, a public plaza, and a park. The construction will span across two parcels on the corner of First Street and Golden Gate Way.
Levy Design Partners is managing the design concepts and construction of the project. Madison Park is on-board as the real estate developer and owner of the project.
Named as Golden Gate Plaza Apartments, the residential complex proposes seventy-one apartments, out of which six are townhouses and sixty-five are apartments. Nine units will be offered at below-market-rates. The area of the lot is 1. 47 acres. Parking will be included for 70 bicycles and 86 vehicles below ground, including nine with electrical charging stations. The townhouses will cover an area of 7,700 square feet and the apartments will cover an area of 63,910 square feet.
The stylistic attributes of the development feature use of horizontal fiber cement lap sidings, plaster, and metal detailing in neutral earth tones. Projecting bay windows are proposed to offer facade articulation. The building facade will rise to fifty-three feet.
The anticipated date of construction is Spring 2022.
