Development permits were filed seeking the approval of additional construction at 3150 California Street in Presidio Heights, San Francisco. The project proposal includes constructing a three-story building for academic, athletic, and administration uses. The project will demolish an existing mid-block two-story office building with a retail store and a twenty-two-space surface parking lot.
San Francisco University High School is the project owner. Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects is managing the design concepts and construction and Pacific Union Development Company is onboard as the development consultant.
The total floor area proposed is 47,515 square feet. The building will feature a mix of science and general education classrooms, maker spaces, a student center, multi-modal athletic facilities, food service, and faculty and administrative offices. An open space of 2,840 square feet is also proposed along with forty-eight Class 1 and twelve Class 2 bicycle spaces.
The estimated cost of construction is $23.5 million. The date of project completion has not been announced yet.
The project site is located on one of the most famous streets in San Francisco. California Street is a long street that stretches from the Ferry Building and the Bay to the Richmond District and the Pacific Ocean. The location is a commercial and financial hotspot and is well-serviced by Muni bus lines like 5, 14, 19, 33, 49, and 54.
