New building permits have been filed for a single-unit house at 6381 Girvin Drive in Piedmont Pine, an affluent residential neighborhood in the Oakland Hills north of the Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park. John Newton is responsible for the design and architecture.
The average house has an estimated value of $1.77 million in Piedmont Pines, according to Redfin. A nearby retail center with a grocery store, restaurants, and cafe, can be reached in less than 15 minutes by bicycle.
The four-story building will produce four bedrooms and three bathrooms across 3,199 square feet on a dramatic down-slope lot. An attached two-car garage is included. The project was approved in 2015, but approval lapsed. 6381 Girvin Drive spans a 9,936-foot parcel area.
Coverage of a project on SFYIMBY is not necessarily equivalent to support or promotion. In the case of this and similar proposals, it is upsetting to see new investment in housing at the Oakland Hills, especially when California is facing unprecedented drought and wildfires. It is our belief that the best response to the environmental and housing crises is in the existing urban environments.
An estimated timeline for construction and completion has not yet been established. An Anderson California-based citizen is listed as the property owner.
