Construction has started for 4200 Geary Boulevard, a seven-story affordable senior housing project rising in San Francisco’s Richmond District. The development is now looking toward completion in early 2025, with applications opening in the fourth quarter of next year. Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation is the project developer.

The 86-foot structure will yield 79,650 square feet, of which 48,560 square feet are divided between 41 studios and 57 one-bedroom units, 98 in total. The ground-level commercial space is to be rented. The building amenities include a ground-level courtyard with landscaping and seating. Two separate terraces will also provide open-air skyline views from the seventh floor.

Y.A. Studio is responsible for the design, with Miller Company as the landscape architect. The Nibbi Brothers is the general contractor. Waypoint Consulting is the construction manager, and California Housing Partnership is the team’s financial consultant. KPFF is the civil engineer. Funding has come from the HCD California Housing Accelerator Program, MOHCD, Multifamily Housing Program, and the FHLB-AHP program.

Would love to see more housing popup around this area. An obvious catalyst would be the building of the Geary subway but given current economic climate and just the cities ability to get anything done at the moment… it’s a pipe dream.
