Permits have been submitted seeking the approval of a new residential project proposed at 53 Vesta Street in Bayview, San Francisco. The project proposal includes the construction of a new three-story residential building with an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU).

The project site is comprised of two lots. The scope of work includes the construction of a new three-story residential building spanning an area of 3,500 square feet. The residential building will offer three units and one Accessory Dwelling Unit. Open space spanning an area of 2,000 square feet will be developed on the site. Parking for two vehicles in a space spanning 300 square feet will be provided on the site.

The cost of construction is estimated as $600,000. Information on the project team has not been revealed yet. A project application has been submitted and is pending review and approval. The estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet.

  1. You’ve got what looks like a “naturally affordable” single family home that will be replaced by two new places, both of which will cost significantly more either as rentals or to purchase. Increased density. . . yes. Gentrification… yes

    • You’re right. Which begs the question, “is this a good thing in this neighborhood”. I think there are better locations for infill housing.

  2. Allowing small infill multi unit housing in addition to large scale high rises is all needed. Blocking units like this is how we got in this situation in the first place.

    Multiple new units will put less pricing pressure on the units around them. The important thing is that it’s higher density than what it replaces. The one that hurts communities is turning multi units -> luxury single family.
