Preliminary permits have been filed for a new six-story mixed-use development at 2154 MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland’s Dimond District. Initial plans show the project will expand a commercial structure and add 45 new homes on a surface parking lot. Dollinger Properties is the project sponsor.

BDE Architecture is responsible for the design. The exterior will be clad with cement plaster, brick veneer, and cast stone. Portions of the existing brick structure will be demolished so that crews can expand its capacity. The residential complex will be a familiar podium-style complex with articulation and setbacks.

The 71-foot tall structure will yield 65,900 square feet with 40,400 square feet for housing, 8,500 square feet for retail, and 5,800 square feet for the 29-car garage. A surface parking lot and drive-through lane will be included for customers. Apartment types will include five studios, 20 one-bedrooms, 15 two-bedrooms, and five three-bedrooms.

The 0.85-acre property is located along MacArthur Boulevard between Dimond Avenue and Fruitvale Avenue. The project will contribute to a dense retail hub serving the Dimond neighborhood. Future residents will be within walking distance of several shops, grocery stores, gift shops, and a public library.

If built, the development would rise around 2114 MacArthur Boulevard, a six-story corner building proposed by Daniel Ochstein. The Bank of America National Trust and Savings Association is listed as the property owner. The company permanently closed the 2154 MacArthur Boulevard branch sometime last year.

  1. No more Sunday articles?

  2. I would like to know how b put name on the wait list

  3. Better than nothing, but still dismayed. Fruitvale & Macarthur and would do well with a mixed use building.

  4. This is my neighborhood and, while I welcome some new development, I fear it will be years before we see anything come of this.

  5. I would love to see this get built and the repurposing of the old Bank of America building to retail or dining with an outdoor option is great for that location IMO. I am also curious if There is any update about the potential development of 2114 MacArthur next-door. Interesting to me that the rendering for this lot leaves that neighboring lot vacant.
