A new school project has been proposed for development at 255 Georgia Street in Downtown, Vallejo. The project proposal includes the conversion of a vacant building into being used as a new charter high school.
Kinyon + Kim Architects, Inc is responsible for the designs. Elite Public Schools is listed as the project applicant.
The project site is corner lot spanning an area of 0.7 acres. The site provides no parking, however, there is street parking along Georgia Street and Sacramento Street.
The scope of work proposes the phased conversion of a vacant two-story office building in Downtown Vallejo to be utilized as a new charter high school. The existing vacant building spans an area of 34,819 square feet and rises two stories high. The project also proposes interior/exterior on-site and right-of-way improvements allowing for the operation of the new charter high school.
The new building will rise to a height of 102 feet. The school will offer enrollment of up to 400 students. The school will offer 18 classrooms on the ground floor. The second floor will have spaces for administrative spaces, offices, lounge, and learning spaces. 36 bike parking spaces will be provided on the premises.
A project review meeting was held this week. The project site sits close to a public library down the street, making it a wonderful resource for a school partnership and student research. The Transit Center behind the school offers easy access to the students to travel to school via local bus lines. The estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet.
