Entitlement permits have been filed for a small residential infill at 2125 Santa Clara Avenue in Alameda. The project will bring new housing to the backyard of an existing apartment complex near the island’s center. San Francisco-based individual Doctor Maya Eydelman, C.O., is listed as the property owner.

Construction will add six new apartments, increasing the site’s capacity to 15 residences. The existing shingle-wrapped structure will remain untouched, while the rear yard and small garage will be replaced by a dense cluster of three two-story apartments. The new structures will all dedicate a full floor to each one-bedroom unit, with access to private balconies and patios. No new parking will be added.
Concord-based Darren Kelly is the project architect. The design groups the three new structures clad with thin brick veneer, glass railing, and bold metal friezes.

The 0.36-acre parcel is located near the center of the island city on a property bound by Willow Street, Walnut Street, and Lincoln Avenue. Future residents will be two blocks from the Alameda Free Library and the retail-rich Park Street.
The construction timeline has yet to be established.
