Los Gatos Town Council has approved plans for the townhouse-style development at 50 Los Gatos-Saratoga Road. Once complete, the project will replace the nearly 70-year-old Los Gatos Lodge with over a hundred condominiums next to Los Gatos High School. Summerhill Homes is the project developer.

Full build-out will yield a combined 367,300 square feet across 28 three-story structures containing 155 townhouse-style condominiums and 310 parking spaces. Unit types will vary, with 19 two-bedrooms, 66 three-bedrooms, and 70 four-bedrooms. The project will feature 26 affordable units, with 16 units for low-income households and ten units for moderate-income households.

SDG Architects is responsible for the design. Illustrations show each of the structures rising three floors with Spanish revival architectural features. The facade will be clad with concrete tiling, stucco, and clay tile gable accents.

The project was approved in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act. The Notice of Determination published by the town of Los Gatos states that the project could have a significant environmental effect and that mitigation measures and monitoring plans have been adopted to reduce that impact.

The nearly nine-acre property is located along Los Gatos-Saratoga Road, close to Highway 17, which connects the South Bay with Santa Cruz. Future residents will be less than twenty minutes away by bus from the city’s retail thoroughfare along North Santa Cruz Avenue or five minutes by bicycle.

  1. I hope they don’t cut down or demolish the mature trees and gardening, at least. That would be a crime.

Looks like we are becoming ANYTOWN USA. This is a TOWN because it has small roadways and is on a small highway in the MOUNTAINS. This is overdevelopment and will not be good for quality of life for anyone that lives here now or moves here in the future. This is foolishness demand from Sacramento. The environment, water, air pollution and local services cannot sustain the irrational growth. Those who support and develop without being educated and boots on the ground experience will be held responsible if we are trapped by fire or earthquake or any disaster involving how to get out of this area. IT IS ALREADY AND HAS BEEN CONGESTED FOR MANY YEARS. THESE FOOLISH GREEDY PEOPLE FORGET THAT SILICON VALLEY POPULATION IS THREE MILLION PEOPLE CONVERGING ON A SMALL MOUNTAIN HIGHWAY TO COMMUTE AND TO ENJOY THE BEACH AREAS.
