New building permits have been filed for a five-story residential infill project at 2857 El Camino Real in Redwood City, San Mateo County. The proposal would replace three small structures on the narrow lot with eight rental apartments. The property owner is listed as a Florida-based individual.
The filing provides a basic overview of the project, without details about the architectural features or designs. The structure will reach five floors tall with eight dwelling units. Of the eight units, one will be deed-restricted as affordable housing.
The property is located along El Camino Real between Berkshire Avenue and Dumbarton Avenue. The site is directly across from the city border with Atherton, an extremely affluent town, almost entirely covered with large mansions along tree-lined and fenced-off streets.
Future residents will be just 13 minutes away from the Redwood City Caltrain Station by bus, or 12 minutes by bicycle. Demolition permits have been filed for the three low-slung structures. The estimated cost and timeline for construction have yet to be shared.
