The City of Menlo Park has deemed the application complete for an eight-story apartment complex at 155 Jefferson Drive in Menlo Park, San Mateo County. The notice kickstarts the entitlement review process for the 207-unit proposal, with streamlining provided by Senate Bill 330. Texas-based developer Beam Reach is responsible for the application.

The roughly 83-foot-tall structure is expected to yield around 294,500 square feet, including 155,200 square feet of housing, 84,140 square feet for parking, and 24,400 square feet of common open space. Parking will be provided for 208 cars and 312 bicycles. Unit sizes will vary with 67 studios, 104 one-bedrooms, and 36 two-bedrooms. Of the 207 units, 31 will be deed-restricted as affordable to low-income and very-low-income households.

KTGY is responsible for the design, with Bionic overseeing the landscape architecture. Renderings show that the overall aesthetic has remained identical since the application first surfaced earlier this year. However, the articulation has been slightly altered. The facade will be clad with a mix of cementitious panels, horizontal board siding, painted stucco, metal panels, and tiles.

The 1.38-acre property is located along Jefferson Drive on a block bounded by Chrysler Drive and Constitution Drive. Future residents will find themselves in a former industrial neighborhood that’s being transformed into a mid-rise residential enclave. The area is still dominated by low-slung warehouses, a bespoke hotel, and is close to the linear Meta Park office campus.

With the application now complete, the approval process will depend on the CEQA path the City of Menlo Park requests. City staff has yet to reply to a request for clarification.
