Development permits have been filed for the final phase of Baywalk, a master plan to replace the former Pittsburg Power Plant with nearly two thousand homes, a hotel, and public open space along the Contra Costa County coastline. The development will cover just a fifth of the 1,047-acre bayside property. Integral Communities is responsible for the project.

Construction will be portioned out between three phases, achieving a density of just over ten units per acre across 195 acres of built land. There will be 50 acres of landscaped open space and 18.8 acres of Employment Center Industrial use. The overall property spans 1,047 acres with 519 acres of wetlands. Vehicular parking capacity is not specified, but there is likely to be between 1.5-2 cars per unit, as well as parking for the commercial and hotel sites.

Phase three of construction will reshape 55 acres with 544 homes, a 120-room hotel, and 60,000 square feet of commercial use. Alongside the housing, phase three will create the 6.8-acre Bay Front Park, 65,200 square feet of community parks, and 120,950 square feet of parkway and median landscaping.

Kevin L Crook Architect and KTGY are responsible for the architecture. The suburban-style expansion. The suburban-style expansion will bring apartment and townhome-style units. Designs have yet to be revealed, but the firm’s previous work suggests a mix of modern farmhouse, craftsman, or Spanish colonial revival styles.

Demolition will also be required for the now-vacant Pittsburg Power Plant, once the largest power plant in the Bay Area.
