A new affordable senior housing project is making progress at 51 9th Street in Oakland. New demolition permits have been issued for the project site to cleared off.

The scope of work includes the development of a new seven-story 100% affordable senior housing complex offering 97 units. The seven-story will span an area of 79,893 square feet, including 3,235 square feet of ground floor commercial space. The senior housing will offer units designed as a mix of studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units.

Demolition permits have been issued for the first building in the Lake Merritt BART Transit-Oriented Development plan.

The new construction will be developed adjacent to the Lake Merritt BART Station. The building facade will rise to a height of 84 feet and feature Type I-B (concrete) construction.

The estimated construction timeline has not been revealed yet.
