The planned project to replace the former Oak Knoll Naval Hospital has been ongoing for nearly 30 years, leaving a large area of developable long since land vacant. However, the new strategy indicated that expedited work on infrastructure could begin within the next months.
Preliminary permits have been filed for a seven-story senior living facility at 6230 Claremont Avenue in Rockridge, Oakland. The filing aims to create nearly 200 units near a bustling commercial block along College Avenue. Ellis Partners and Spirit Living Group are co-developers behind the elderly housing project.
A new project located at 2154 MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland’s central Dimond District is moving forward with further environmental reviews. Specifically, the project is adding a review of the transportation data for the property and its local effect. The project was most recently reported on by SF YIMBY in Fall of 2024, and there have been no significant changes to the design details made by BDE Architecture. Meanwhile, Dollinger Properties, acting with DD Ventures, is still the active project developer.
The official ribbon-cutting ceremony has been held for the affordable housing project at 2201 Brush Street in West Oakland, Alameda County. The project, dubbed the Ms. Margaret Gordon West Port, is adding 59 units to the residential neighborhood close to the heart of the city. East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation is responsible for the development.

The project is looking to add around sixty units next to the iconic California Hotel overlooking I-580. East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation is the project developer.
