A new senior housing project celebrated its inauguration at 631 F Street in Sacramento. The project proposal included the development of a new 150-unit senior housing project.

Mutual Housing is the project owner and developer. Kuchman Architects is responsible for the design. Roach + Campbell are the landscape architects.

The scope of work included the development of an affordable senior housing project named as Wong Center. Last year permits were submitted to the city for a four-story project, proposing to replace vacant land and surface parking in the under-built Sacramento Railyards district. The project will cover 2.35 acres. Amenities like bike storage, a community center, a bocce ball court, and dog play area are also included. Fifty-three parking spaces are also developed.

The 50-foot tall structure brings 123,900 square feet with 89,040 square feet for residential use, 4,050 square feet for community space, 30,800 square feet of common area, and parking for 77 cars and 100 bicycles. Of the 150 apartments, 135 units are designed as one-bedrooms and 15 units as two-bedrooms. Residences average between 571-755 square feet each.

Facade materials will include plaster, lap siding, brick, and wall tiles. The project’s construction cost was estimated at $52 million, with $6.3 million of funding from the County and $7.3 million from the city, according to the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency.

The Wong Center is now accepting applications at www.wongcentermutualhousing.com.
