Recent plans have been filed to convert a reconstructed three-story brick building at 117 J Street in Old Sacramento to become a 14-key hotel. The existing structure is a reconstruction of the gold rush-era Sacramento Daily Union Building. Sacramento-based Bollinger Family 2012 LLC is listed as the current property owner.
Old Sacramento is a State Historic Park to preserve an enclave of gold-rush era architecture dating back to the founding of the city in 1848 by John A. Sutter Jr. Sacramento was established as the State capital in 1854, the same year that the original structure was built.
The renovations are expected to cost around a million dollars. No exterior changes are being proposed as part of the conversion, and the ground-floor retail tenant is expected to remain. The structure was rebuilt in the 1970s, a decade after the 1965 establishment of the State Park. Once complete, 117 J Street would include a 14-key hotel.

The property was listed for sale by Sotheby’s for $2.25 million. According to Sotheby’s, there is a ‘contract pending’ for the sale. The city’s planning department did not list the current project applicant.
The property is located at J Street and Commonwealth Alley, on the northern end of the riverfront historic district. The site is under ten minutes away from the Sacramento Train Station, serviced by Amtrak, with connections to San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle, and Los Angeles.

Wonder if this will be one of those self check-in hotels. 14 rooms is not a lot to have someone working there all day.
This is how you activate Old Sac. Cool hotels, condo’s and apartment conversions. Get people there full-time.
