Construction has started for a new senior living community campus dubbed The Glen at Heather Farm in Walnut Creek, Contra Costa County. The development is looking to add over three hundred and fifty units of housing across several structures at 850 Seven Hills Ranch Road. Spieker Senior Development Partners is the project developer.

The development is expected to open with 354 dwelling units, including 302 independent-living units in an apartment complex and 52 single-family homes, described as villas. The apartments will be on top of a 410-car garage. Residents will have access to a two-story health center featuring 100 assisted living and memory care rooms.

KTGY is the project architect, and Gates + Associates is the landscape architect. Illustrations show farmhouse-style single-family homes with two-car garages and landscaped front yards. The podium-style apartment complex is wrapped with an articulated facade clad with stucco, fiber cement shingles, siding, brick and stone veneer, and wood trellises.

The site is unincorporated land surrounded by Walnut Creek, just 15 minutes away from the Pleasant Hill BART Station by bus, or six minutes via bicycle. The Walnut Creek Canal and the Seven Hills private school are located along the property boundaries.

YIMBY first covered the project when permits were filed in early 2024, and new building permits were filed in March this year. With work now underway, construction is expected to finish by late 2027 or early 2028.
