Permits have been filed for new housing at 3225 D Street in East Sacramento. The application looks to split a lot to add two new homes behind an existing single-family residence. California Home Company is listed as the project developer.

Construction will add two identical two-story structures facing Chinatown Alley, each containing 1,860 square feet with a 260-square-foot garage. The exterior will be clad with stucco and wood-look fiber cement siding.

The application invokes Senate Bill 684 and the Missing Middle Housing Interim Ordinance to streamline the approval process. The Missing Middle Housing ordinance allows developers to increase building area based on the Floor Area ratio.

The property is located along D Street between 32nd Street and 33rd Street, two blocks from McKinley Park, within the Alhambra Corridor Special Planning District. Future residents will be just 15 minutes away from Downtown Sacramento by bicycle, or 30 minutes by bus.

The estimated cost and timeline for construction have yet to be shared.
