The Palo Alto Planning and Transportation Commission is scheduled to review plans for the seven-story apartment complex tomorrow night for 3606 El Camino Real in Palo Alto, Santa Clara County. The project could add over three hundred dwelling units to the sprawling property, using the builder’s remedy. Sares Regis Group is the project developer.

The roughly 84-foot-tall structure is expected to yield a combined total of 567,420 square feet, including approximately 283,700 square feet of housing and 150,480 square feet for the two-story podium garage. Of the 321 units, there will be 49 studios, 114 one-bedrooms, 119 two-bedrooms, and 39 three-bedrooms. Parking will be included for 396 cars and 292 bicycles. Of the 321 units, 36 will be deed-restricted as affordable housing.

BDE Architecture is responsible for the design. The podium-style apartment complex will wrap the two-story podium with cast-stone and double-height faux-windows. The residential component will be clad with brick veneer, dark grey stucco, and metal accents. Residential amenities will include an expansive podium-top deck, featuring a pool deck, landscaping, and outdoor seating.

Demolition will be required for various structures and surface lots across the 2.6-acre property, at the corner of El Camino Real and Matadero Avenue. The application is just one of several plans in the city’s pipeline looking to add dense new housing within walking distance of the California Avenue Caltrain Station, including 3150 El Camino Real, 3300 El Camino Real, and 3400 El Camino Real.
