The Danville Planning Commission is scheduled to review plans this evening for a townhouse development at 222 West El Pintado in Danville, Contra Costa County. The housing is part of a larger expansion for the religious facility, replacing 19 church-owned single-family homes with townhomes, surface parking, recreational amenities for the on-site school, and a youth ministry building. The Community Presbyterian Church is responsible for the development.

CPC’s master plan includes a youth and ministry building along El Pintado, the parking lot expansion, a new pavilion and ballfield with associated recreational amenities, and the townhouse development by Charles Lane. Additional project features include renovations to the existing church, expanded offices, and a coffee bar by the exterior pavilion between the church and turf field.
The townhouse development will produce 68 dwelling units across 11 buildings, including 49 townhouses and 19 accessory dwelling units. The developer is looking to fulfill the city’s missing middle housing needs, in part by achieving a moderate residential density of 20-25 units per acre. Dahlin Group is responsible for the design, collaborating with Gates Studio for the landscape architecture.

The project requires the demolition of 19 existing single-family homes along Ilo Lane and Charles Lane. The future townhouses will be close to I-680 and less than half a mile from Downtown Danville. Construction is expected to be split into four phases, with the groundbreaking date yet to be announced.
