Plans have been approved for a three-story apartment complex at 333 Franklin Street in Mountain View, Santa Clara County. The project will provide a small residential increase to a narrow parcel close to the city center. Silicon Valley Custom Homes Inc. is responsible for the application and filing on behalf of the owner, David Chao.
The proposal calls for a three-story apartment complex with two detached two-story accessory dwelling units in the backyard. The project will include 13 apartments in total, with three studios, seven one-bedrooms, and three two-bedrooms. Parking will be included for two cars and nine bicycles.

The application invoked Senate Bill 330 to streamline the approval process. Of the 13 units, seven will be deed-restricted as affordable to low-income households, and one will be deed-restricted as affordable to very low-income households. The below-market-rate dwellings will be replacement units for the existing eight-unit apartment complex.
Mountain View-based Hau-Ching Liao is responsible for the design. Renderings show an oddly-proportioned complex, which appears more like a tiered wedding cake with a faux gable roof feature facing Franklin Street. The exterior will be clad with stucco and wood-look siding.

The 0.17-acre property is located along Franklin Street between California Street and West Dana Street. Demolition will be expected for an eight-unit multifamily apartment complex.
