New permits have been filed for a multifamily development at 425 W Macarthur Boulevard in Oakland. The project follows a moderately dense model for development, with plans to remove the existing two-story duplex located on site and replace it with a three-story, 18-unit apartment building. The current property owner is listed only as 425 W MACARTHUR LLC, and no specific individuals or developers could be identified as the project’s sponsor.
The proposed apartments would consist of 18 living units, a common lobby, a shared laundry room, and a shared roof deck. The exact layouts of the building and unit sizes have yet to be revealed. The building’s size would be a significant increase in density compared to the current site, but its relatively low height and total number of units will keep it consistent with other buildings in the neighborhood.
The site location is in the North Oakland neighborhood of Mosswood, just one block away from the newly redeveloped Mosswood Community Center and Park. Future residents will also be within walking distance of multiple transportation options along both Telegraph Avenue and Broadway, including the nearby Macarthur BART station.
