New development plans have been approved for a new four-story Agnes Memorial Senior Housing project at 2372 International Boulevard by Fruitvale in Oakland. The project would add 60 affordable senior rental units to the East Bay housing market at Miller and 15th Street. Related Companies is responsible for the application.

HKIT Architects is responsible for the architecture, with Keller Mitchell & Co involved as the landscape architect. The facade design includes board form concrete, plaster, and aluminum wood-like panels. The facade design is articulated to break up the larger massing, an approach intended to improve the pedestrian experience. Ten green screen walls will be installed across the ground-level podium to decorate the extended windowless walls.

The 53-foot tall building will yield 52,210 square feet, expanded courtesy of California legislation, specifically Senate Bill 35 and Assembly Bill 1763. Of the residential units, 59 will be below-market-rate units for senior residents and one unit for the manager. Unit sizes range from 22 studios, 37 one-bedroom units, and one two-bedroom unit. Parking will be offered for 18 vehicles and six bicycles.

Resident amenities will include a community room, laundry room, and shared courtyard at ground level.

Agnes Memorial Church is the property owner. An expected timeline for construction and project cost has not yet been shared.
