Development permits have been filed for a five-story residential building to be built at 2211 West Street in Ralph Bunche, West Oakland. The proposal will replace a two-story apartment building with eight new residences. Millbrae-based Waters and Waters Inc. is responsible for the project as the property owner.
The 60-foot tall structure will rise from the 4,020 square foot parcel to yield eight on-site parking spaces and eight two-bedroom units. Above the garage, each floor will contain two units, each with a private balcony facing east or west.

A formal project architect has not yet been shared, though Stanley Saitowitz | Natoma Architects was involved in drafting the planning document. The elevations show the facade will be composed of horizontal cement board siding, private balconies, and aluminum-framed windows. The developers stated in the design review that the proposal “will bring clean lines, beautiful colors and texture to the neighborhood, which will aesthetically blend with the existing surrounding newer residential building.”

Santa Monica-based Design with Nature & Coast L.P. will be responsible for Landscape Architecture. MAA Consulting Group will be the engineer.

2211 West Street is located along West Grand Avenue, one block from the I-980 freeway that separates the neighborhood from Downtown Oakland. The 19th Street BART station is less than 15 minutes away on foot.
An estimated timeline for construction has not been announced.
