Design Review Application Filed for West Midway Project in Alameda

The West Midway Development took a step forward earlier this week when new plansets were submitted for design review in Area A of the project. The original development plan for the Alameda Point neighborhood was approved in June of 2023. Brookfield Properties has now brought more specific plans for the development of 284 units on the 12.4-acre site. The designs by KTGY Architecture + Planning and Woodly Architecture Group will include a combination of Duets, Townhomes, and Condominiums.

Brisbane Baylands Site Plan to Include 157 Acres of Open Space

The new Brisbane Baylands site development plan reported on by SF YIMBY last week is set to include more than 157 acres of open space in addition to the other developed areas. The open space areas will include urban plazas, community parks, hiking and recreation areas, and flood protection buffer areas. Beyond the 157 acres, the plan also sets aside several large open areas for sustainable infrastructure and renewable energy generation.

Brisbane Files with CEQA for Baylands Specific Development Plan

Last week, the City of Brisbane’s proposal for the Baylands development area was opened for public review through the CEQA application page. The specific site plan, developed in partnership with the Metis Environmental Group and Environmental Science Associates, is a sweeping redevelopment of more than 680 acres along Highway 101 and the Caltrain tracks between San Francisco and South San Francisco.

California Forever has made its first substantial step toward building a new city on agricultural land in Solano County. Earlier this week, YIMBY spoke with California Forever’s Head of Planning, Gabriel Metcalf, to discuss the facts of their proposal and the Ballot Initiative. The company, a real estate firm established in Silicon Valley in 2017 with financing from several billionaires, hopes to convince the county voters to create a new city with up to 400,000 residents.
