The Oak Knoll Site at 8750 Mountain Road in East Oakland has recently announced a new strategy for development. The planned project to replace the former Oak Knoll Naval Hospital has been ongoing for nearly 30 years, leaving a large area of developable long since land vacant. However, the new strategy indicated that expedited work on infrastructure could begin within the next months.
The property at 7954 MacArther Boulevard has filed a zoning worksheet with the city of Oakland. The project, entitled The Kingdom Builder Senior Housing Development, is 6-story, 50-unit affordable senior housing development in East Oakland. The project, brought by Community Housing Development Corporation, was first reported on by SF YIMBY in 2022, but has undergone a handful of design changes and iterations since then.
Permits have been approved and issued for an affordable senior housing project at 9418 Edes Avenue in East Oakland, Alameda County. The proposal will bring several dozen permanent supportive housing units with $14 million of funding from the Project Homekey initiative. DignityMoves is responsible for the application on behalf of the property owner, the City of Oakland.
The Oakland Planning Commission has approved plans for the ‘Yes In God’s Back Yard’ proposal at 1010 91st Avenue in East Oakland, Alameda County. The small infill has been approved for a church to replace its surface lot with eight units. Lily of the Valley Christian Center is the property owner.
The zoning worksheet has been filed for an affordable housing complex at 606 Clara Street in Brookfield Village, East Oakland. The project will use $14.3 million in Homekey funds from the State to pursue the construction of 40 affordable homes dedicated to seniors experiencing homelessness. San Francisco-based DignityMoves is the project sponsor.
