Construction is underway for several projects around the recently-opened Milpitas BART Station in Santa Clara County. One such development is 730 and 750 East Capitol Avenue, which will produce a combined 582 units and several retail spaces between two structures. The Walnut Creek-based Anton Development manages the project.

The 80-foot development will yield 655,820 square feet, split with 285,780 square feet in the 266-unit 730 East Capitol Avenue building and 370,040 square feet from 316-unit 750 East Capitol Avenue building. A total of 641,090 square feet will be for residential use, 5,000 square feet for retail, and 6,000 square feet for two on-site fitness centers. Apartment sizes will range from studios to two bedrooms. Parking will be included on-site for 872 vehicles and 235 bicycles.

The project includes a laundry list of amenities centered around an outdoor social space with a rooftop fitness center and pool, a few community courtyards, and dining. There will also be a residential lounge, pet spa, and co-working space.

LSA Associates is responsible for the design. The facade is clad with aluminum panels, white painted surfaces, and wood-like planks as a natural texture between private balconies. The aesthetic reflects city design guidelines standards across the Bay Area.

The building conforms to the Milpitas Transit Area Specific Plan. The plan was adopted in 2008 as a guide for development to transform light industrial uses into a new urban fabric with housing, shopping, hotels, and offices. The plan is part of a state-wide desire to promote suburban sprawl attrition.

The Milpitas BART Station opened in June of 2020. Milpitas is a city between San Jose and Fremont in Santa Clara County, with over 80,000 citizens. Construction is expected to finish within the year, costing above $120 million.
