Project building permits have been filed for constructing an ArtX hotel at 4256 El Camino Real in Palo Alto, by the city’s border with Mountain View. The application comes after the Palo Alto Architectural Review Board approved the design in early 2020. The five-story proposal will add 96 new guest rooms to the Silicon Valley market. HXH Property LLC is responsible for the development.

The 2020 review meeting drew the public’s eyes as many netizens latched onto the comments of Peter Mills, a board member of the Palo Alto Redwoods Homeowners Association. As the Palo Alto Online reported at the time, Mills commented on “an expanse” of 70 windows, a layout that he said will make the area look like Manhattan buildings. He went on to say, quite memorably, “We don’t want to live in Manhattan,” when referring to the prospect of the five-story hotel.

The 49-foot tall structure will yield 86,330 square feet, with 51,300 square feet for hotel uses and 35,030 square feet for 96 vehicle spaces, a reduction from earlier plans. Parking will also be included on-site for ten bicycles. Hotel amenities include a restaurant with a cafe, a lounge bar, an open-air outdoor courtyard, a fitness center, and a conference room.

Oakland-based Studio T-Square was the project architect, with MPA Design in charge of landscape architecture and Greenwood & Black as the hospitality designers. Lowney Architecture has taken over the role of Studio T-Square, though there is not an indication that the project design has changed. Renderings from Studio T-Square show the building clad with cedar wood-look panels, smooth stucco, and architectural metal panels.

The building would rise along the city’s main transit thoroughfare. El Camino Real is lined with many small businesses and retail spots, with the nearest major commercial destination at San Antonio Road in Mountainview 15 minutes away by foot. The San Antonio Caltrain station is under ten minutes away by bicycle.

  1. I didn’t realize Manhattan was filled with five story hotels… how ridiculous.

  2. Michael obviously hasn’t seen the area, and doesn’t realize that the project is far too large for the site, or that it’s also going to stick out as the tallest thing along El Camino for a mile in either direction.

Residents want development, but not another damn hotel. The city is desperate for housing.

CBD, or cannabidiol, has been a feign changer an eye to me. I’ve struggled with apprehension for years and have tried diverse various medications, but nothing has worked as properly as CBD. It helps me to crave peace and at ease without any side effects. I also find that it helps with nod off and pain management. I’ve tried various brands, but I’ve inaugurate that the ones that are lab tested and acquire a high-minded noted are the most effective. Overall, I highly plug CBD for anyone who struggles with uneasiness, be in the arms of morpheus issues, or dyed in the wool pain.
