Pre-application permits have been filed for a hotel-to-apartments conversion of Z-Hotel at 233 Broadway in Oakland’s waterfront Jack London District. The project would renovate the 105-guestroom hotel, with 24 more units to replace on-site parking. Baran Studio Architecture is responsible for the design.
The 38-foot tall project yields 73,470 square feet, with 41,620 square feet of leasable area. Parking will be included for 61 vehicles. 10,000 square foot courtyard, 2,200 square feet of open roof area.
The proposed design alteration by Baran Studio Architecture has new murals. The shared renderings show a conceptual mural mock-up, though the final design is likely to vary.
The project is being filed by the current property owner via Inn Jack London Square LLC. The new residences would be in a unique retail-rich neighborhood, two blocks away from the San Francisco Bay Ferry station. The existing attached commercial structure and surface parking will remain.
