Preliminary Application Filed For 3400 Laguna Street, Marina District, San Francisco

A preliminary project assessment has been approved for senior care facility renovations proposed for development at 3400 Laguna Street in Marina District, San Francisco. The project proposal includes the redevelopment and additions to an existing a life care retirement community.

HKS Architects is responsible for the designs.

Named, Heritage on the Marina, the community is comprised of a historic and iconic building designed by Julia Morgan in 1925, the Perry Building built in 1957, and the Health Center (skilled nursing facility) built in 1963.

The project site is a parcel spanning 68,085 square feet. The project will implement a master plan of additions and renovations to allow for an expanded number of care suites to 109 units. The overall building height and uses will remain the same.

Restorative changes include parking spaces for 25 vehicles and one loading space with 4,688 square feet of surface parking, and 8,219 square feet of underground parking garage and ramp. Open landscaped space spanning an area of 30,277 is proposed. The building will yield a gross floor area of 141,579 square feet.

  1. Good that there is more care facility. Why waste soo much space and cost for “parking spaces for 25 vehicles and one loading space with 4,688 square feet of surface parking, and 8,219 square feet of underground parking garage”
