Demolition permits were filed seeking the development of a mixed-use project at 6501 Shattuck Avenue in North Oakland. The project proposal includes the construction of a four-story mixed-use building offering residential and retail spaces. The project calls for the demolition of the existing vertical walls of a supply building.
Bruder, LLC is the property owner. Moshe Dinar of Dinar & Associates is responsible for the design.
The mostly vacant lot will be replaced by a four-story building offering 19 residential units and retail space on the ground floor. The building will feature three stories of residential units and a garage space on the premises. A roof deck spanning an area of 709 square feet will also be designed. The building façade will rise to a height of 43 feet and yield 25,310 square feet with 15,780 square feet for residential use, and 1,980-square feet for the ground-floor retail. Of the 18 units, there will be six studios, six one-bedroom units, and six two-bedroom units. The retail space at the base is expected to contain a café or small restaurant.
The property will be a short walk to the Ashby BART station. AC Transit buses will be accessible along Woolsey Street or Alcatraz Avenue. The estimated cost and construction timeline has not yet been established.
