A rehabilitation project has been proposed at 1200 15th Street in Mission District, San Francisco. The project proposal includes the rehabilitation and renovation of existing building at the site to create a new headquarters for SFMTA’s Parking and Traffic Enforcement Division.
The project proposes the renovation of the existing two-story concrete building that would be seismically retrofitted, renovated, and converted into offices and other Enforcement functions. The existing historic building spans an area of 29,500 square feet. The ground floor would partially be used for parking and Electrical Vehicles (EV) charging stations and the second floor would be used for offices, lockers, and kitchen. Six electric vehicle (EV) parking spaces with EV charging stations would be installed on the ground floor of the existing building and 34 electric bike parking spaces with charging stations would be installed in the yard to accommodate SFMTA fleet vehicles. The areas outlined for renovation are in the existing building footprint of the building, and in the associated vacated street parcel, a former portion of and adjacent to Treat Avenue. Two permanent trailers, to house Enforcement’s emergency related operations, would be located adjacent to the primary structure in the triangular former Treat Avenue.
The existing and proposed square footage totals would be the same at 29,500 square feet, and there would be no changes to building height of 32 feet. There would be no significant changes to the building façade except for the removal of existing non-historic awnings, in-kind replacement/upgrades of windows, and painting. The project would add 425 public employees to the site. The project would include streetscape improvements around the site.
The project application is under review.
