Daly City has selected Eden Housing and The Core Companies to develop plans for a portion of the mixed-use neighborhood on the former Serramonte Del Rey school campus in Daly City, San Mateo County. The project will replace the 22-acre campus in the Jefferson Union High School District with over a thousand homes.
The proposal will create 272 low- and moderate-income households. Beyond that, details are scarce, lacking information about the architect and unit size composition. According to the developer press release, “the partnership with Eden and Core will allow JUHSD to offer more than 13% of the total units at significantly below-market rates.” Tina Van Raaphorst of JUHSD said of the project, “This rental housing reflects the District’s dedication to addressing the community’s housing needs. The District is genuinely excited to collaborate closely with these two organizations to achieve this noteworthy goal.”
The announcement comes just over a year after leaders at the JUHSD opened phase one of the master plan. The 122-unit workforce community at 705 Serramonte includes 60% of the homes for staff within the school district. The four-story townhome-look complex was designed by Seidel Architects and BDE Architecture.
The campus is bound by Serramonte Boulevard and Callan Boulevard, near the Serramonte Center shopping mall. The Colma BART Station is 20 minutes away by transit or bicycle.
