Preliminary plans have been filed for a residential infill at 425 West MacArthur Boulevard in Mosswood, Oakland. The development would replace an existing small apartment complex two blocks from the MacArthur BART Station. An Inglewood-based resident is listed as the project applicant.
The preliminary proposal states that it will replace the existing apartment complex, which contains two or four residences built in the early 1920s. City records show the property sold in January this year for $1.02 million.
The 0.16-acre parcel is located along West MacArthur Boulevard between Webster Street and Telegraph Avenue. Residents will be less than ten minutes away on foot from the MacArthur BART Station and the retail-rich Piedmont Avenue. For open space, Mosswood Park across Webster Street offers residents several athletic fields, an amphitheater, and a playground.

The “apartment complex” is a beautiful 1920s stunner with all the craftsmen details and quality of that era (soaker tub, wood built-ins). Probably old growth redwood, built to last. It was remodeled beautifully before being sold. In wish developers would revitalize something that actually needs it. I don’t get it.
Don’t forget mosswood park will also offer a beautiful homeless encampment
What kind of housing density is it? Pretty important piece of information. If they can put 8 or 12 units there that’s a lot more housing next to BART.
The 1920s “stunner” is riddled with black mold. It should be rehabilitated for sure, but needs probably $200,000 worth of work. I wish people from Inglewood would mess with their neighborhood – NOT ours.
