New renderings have been published alongside new permits for an eight-story residential infill at 1190 Hillsdale Avenue in San Jose, Santa Clara County. The project will bring 161 new affordable apartments by replacing a vacant strip mall in South San Jose. USA Properties Fund is responsible for the application.
New details specify that that eight-story building will include six floors of housing above a two-story garage. The 161 units will be designated as affordable to very low-income and low-income households. Units will vary with one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms. The inclusion of affordable housing allows the project to benefit from the State Density Bonus Law and SB 330. The exact capacity for cars and bicycles is not specified.
A.C. Martin is listed as the project architect. New renderings, first shared by the Bay Area News Group, show an articulated facade with setbacks and carveouts. The podium-style building will feature a third-floor courtyard.
The 0.86-acre parcel is located at the corner of Hillsdale Avenue and Newberry Drive. Residents will be close to the rising 3315 Almaden Expressway senior housing sponsored by Columbia Pacific Advisors.
