Plans have been shared for a new suburban expansion at 325 Fairgrounds Drive in Tahoe Park, Sacramento. The project will replace a portion of Greenfair Park and surface parking with dozens of single-family homes. Western American Properties is responsible for the application.
Thomas A. Phillippi is responsible for drafting the project engineering and site planning. The site map shows that the existing park will be divided by a linear road and a small cul-de-sac with eight connected parcels. The project will create 68 single-family units across 68 parcels. Demolition will be required for several parking structures, trees, and turf grass.
A project application has been submitted to the Sacramento Planning Commission for review and approval. The estimated construction timeline has not yet been announced.
The building is located along Fairgrounds Drive, a rectangular loop that connects with Broadway. The neighborhood is close to the UC Davis medical campus, where construction is underway for Aggie Square.

YIMBY supports building on parks? How is this even remotely possible?
That is a great area for higher density housing—instead of a of little houses
The great part about Tahoe Park is that people often refer to it as a mini Davis. It’s got a chill vibe with homes that have a lot of character. I sure hope they don’t start ruining that.
Building over a park? That is not YIMBY. Also, even if they were to build here it would be a much better use of space to go high density and mixed used. Poop on Sacramento yet again.
I’m about as yimby as it gets when within City limits…but uh yea…you need to preserve the park.
I love that secret park. It’s one of the coolest things about Tahoe Park. Remember playing there as a child. If they are going to build there is should be high density with some of the park preserved.
SAVE THE PARK! That park is enjoyed by young, old, and furry. What a shame to take something so beautiful and convenient from one group of people just to provide for another group of people.
