New Development at Emeryville’s Public Market has been in the works for some time, with the city approving a development agreement for the site in December of 2015. However, the exact plans for Parcels A and B, which abut the railway tracks to the north of the market hall, have been in flux. The meeting on Thursday May 22nd will review revisions to the current project proposal.

The proposal as reported on by SF YIMBY in 2022 would include 167 units of housing and more than 165,000 square feet of laboratory/commercial on Parcel B of the development, with a 6-story parking garage on Parcel A to support the area’s commercial usage. However, the developers Oxford Properties and City Center Realty Partners are now planning to include housing on both parcels, changing the original plan and increasing the total number of units.

The original plan received some rebuke for it’s non-residential focus, so the developers may be attempting to remediate the criticism with the expanded residential plans. Including more residential will also allow them to defer the payment of Parcel A’s housing fees, pending the revised plans.

Plans for the revised project have not been released. The revised development agreement would call for their submittal no later than December 1st of this year. The meeting will discuss the potential impacts and feasibility of the project, as well as other significant deadlines. More information on how to attend can be found here.
