Preliminary permits have been filed to potentially replace a six-story office building with housing at 1340 Treat Boulevard in Walnut Creek, Contra Costa County. The proposal would add 400 units within walking distance of the Pleasant Hill Contra Costa Centre BART Station. Trammell Crow is the project sponsor.

Further information about the proposal has yet to be shared, including the level to which construction will intervene with the existing office block and the rear surface parking lot. Residential amenities and parking will be provided. The six-story office building was constructed in 1988 with 271,500 square feet.

The site is located at the corner of Treat Boulevard and Oak Road, located a block away from the BART Station and the Iron Horse Trail. The closest grocery store is just three blocks away, on the other side of an I-680 overpass.

The property is owned by the California State Teachers Retirement System through CSHV Pacific Plaza LLC.

  1. Love this direction and the site’s proximity to transit and amenities.

I must say, the administration of Walnut Creek is simply crazy! Why are they trying to turn Walnut Creek into another overpopulated, hard to get around San Francisco! I moved here to get away from it all. Why don’t you take a minute and think about expanding not condensing. You’re constantly making it more difficult for the existing residence to navigate the streets, as it is now.

    • Do they have low income or senior appartement???

    • that is not in the city of walnut creek. this project has nothing to do with walnut creek.
Dense Housing is best put next to transit. that’s exactly what this is.

  3. Why? Why? Why? do they insist on making San Ramon even uglier than Dublin? When the goal is to out Dublin even Dublin, things have to stop!!!!

  4. It’s great to add housing near BART so people who live there may not have cars and be able to take BART to work. We don’t want more homes built on the edges of Walnut Creek because the roads get very backed up during commute times.

  5. Do they have senior appartement or low income???

  6. I agree with Mr. Pennisi. The assumption is that all those people will use BART rather than travel by car. Evidence post COVID would indicate that is a false assumption. But, if they believe it to be true, do not allow the building of any parling garage.

Yes, every single one of the new residents will use BART and never drive cars..funny how the people who constantly force more and more density on the rest of us never live there
